Three things worth checking before you post
Each of these runs in the browser, needs nothing from you, and answers with the same tables Postauto publishes with. Length, shape and files: the three things a network refuses a post for.
- 01 Social media character counter Paste a draft and see whether it fits every network at once. Most counters call String.length and are wrong on the networks that count graphemes, UTF-8 bytes, UTF-16 units or weighted code points. This one counts each network the way that network does.
- 02 Thread splitter Cut a long piece of writing into numbered parts that each fit. It breaks at a blank line first, then a sentence end, then a word, and never mid word. Every cut is measured with the network's own counter rather than with a character count.
- 03 Image and video checker Drop in a photo or a clip and find out which networks would refuse it. The file is measured in your browser and never uploaded. Where nothing is recorded for a network, the answer says so instead of showing a tick.
Why ours are not a copy of the table
A publishing product has to be right about these before it can send anything, so the figures are not research done for a marketing page. They are the tables the composer checks a draft against and the publisher measures it with, in one package that every part of Postauto imports. These pages import the same one, which is why they can be wrong only if the product is wrong first.
- Ceilings
- 21
- networks with a character limit taken from the network's own documentation, from X's 280 upward.
- Units
- 5
- different ways those 21 count a character, which is the part every other counter leaves out.
- File rules
- 15
- networks with recorded size, shape and duration rules. The other 6 say so rather than showing a tick.
